Fizzy Little Overachiever: Building Waay + Life on Your Own Terms with Morgan Zanotti
The protein movement is one of the best things to happen to women's health in years and Morgan Zanotti has thoughts about it.
In this episode, I sit down with Morgan Zanotti — co-founder of Primal Kitchen, founder of Waay, and one of the most genuinely honest founders I've had on this show — for a conversation about building businesses, managing the mental weight of it, and why protein, but make it fun, might be exactly what we needed.
Morgan bootstrapped Primal Kitchen to $50 million in revenue without outside investors, pioneered seed-oil-free condiments before that was even a phrase people used, and sold it to Kraft Heinz for $200 million. Then she spotted a gap in the protein space, discovered clear whey protein isolate, and thought: put it in sparkling water. It's not that complicated. Call it day for your protein goals with Waay.
We also talk about the mental health breakout session at a VC summit that every founder showed up to and nobody expected, the Untethered Soul and what happened when she closed her eyes at a country club pool in her twenties, and why you don't have to have it figured out to take the next step.
